What Knowbite already does

Everything below is live in Knowbite's current version. Tap any item for how it actually works under the hood.

Knowbite runs as a normal website in the phone's browser — nothing to install from an app store, no update to manage. Point the camera at a barcode and get a result in seconds.

Gluten and lactose are graded independently — so a product that's gluten-free but contains dairy shows exactly that, instead of one blended score.

A "Contains" verdict includes trace / "may contain" label warnings, not only confirmed ingredients — flagged with a footnote so it's never ambiguous why. And when the data isn't complete enough to be sure, Knowbite says "Not yet verified" instead of guessing.

Open Food Facts is the backbone, topped up with direct grocery-chain data feeds in Estonia that add thousands more cross-checked products. When two sources disagree, the more cautious verdict wins until a person reviews it.

Signed-in users can flag a product as missing, unverified, or wrong, and submit the correct ingredient and allergen details themselves. Every submission is checked by hand against the real label before it's confirmed — once approved, it updates the product for everyone, so the database gets more complete with every report.

Sign-in is a one-time email code — no password to manage. Because scan history can reveal a health condition, it sits behind its own explicit GDPR consent step, separate from the general terms.

From the browser, Knowbite can be added to the home screen on both iOS and Android — real icon, standalone launch, same product, no store submission required.

From first scan to subscriber

The customer journey

The steps it takes to go from a first scan to becoming a subscriber.

Open knowbite.app in your phone's browser — no login and nothing to download to get started.

Point your camera at the barcode. Two scans a week are free without creating an account.

Free, Contains, or Not yet verified for each allergen — in seconds.

Not found, unverified, or looks inaccurate — one form covers all three cases and feeds the shared product database.

Confirm the code from your email and you're in. Signing up unlocks 2 more free scans.

Unlimited scans for 7 days, then €6.99/month afterward unless you cancel.

Switch to annual anytime from inside your account — about 52% cheaper than paying monthly.

Every scan is saved to your history, so you can look back on anything you've scanned before.
